Blood Banks around the country are preparing to face an acute shortage of blood. India’s nationwide vaccination drive for ages 18-45 started on May 1st. And vaccinated individuals cannot donate blood for 28 days after each dose. With the demand for blood being high in the summers, and the rise of the Co-vid pandemic, the shortage in blood could cost us a lot of lives.
To help this cause, the Kanara Industries Association ( KIA ) had conducted a blood donation drive on 21st April at the KIA, association building in Baikampady. Around 73 members donated blood during the half-day camp organized by the Indian Red Cross Society.
We at KIA encourage you to spread information to help combat the shortage by donating blood locally before you get your vaccination shot.
